First Impression: Very cute. The plaid background reminded me of a cutsie school girl skirt. I also like the side navigation.
Content: Your site is a personal site and offers a good amount of content about yourself. I was impressed to see your content section had something different from what I usually see, which was the make money page. That is very useful.
My suggestion is to separate your exits from content. Instead put your exits information in the About section. It is more suited there as the about section is for people to know more about your website in general rather than content. The content is your visitor section, which is what you are offering rather than solely about your domain.
Coding: You had 206 errors on your page. http://re-url.me/553 . Here is a general list of errors found and suggestions to correct them.
1. Your and signs like your ampersand should be the & .
2. Do not forget your ending tags, especially with image source tags which are " /> ".
3. In XHTML, the center tag is not a valid tag. Instead replace it with a css attribute. If it is for an image, you can also put
style="float:left;" or put a custom css and class tag in your wordpress to center the image. Also, remember with image source tags to include an alt attribute.
4. You should really go through your code and check to make sure all your opening tags have a closing tag.
5. Line break tags ( <br> ) are <br /> . Any attribute should be encased within quotations, even values like =”0″.
Design: I like the pleasant colors with the pinks. However, your main image pinks do not match up with your background. Your background is a borderline salmon pink rather than a baby pink. Your pinks should reflect that line of pink rather than the bright colored line. However, for most people it is not as noticeable and not a big deal. However, for those with a keen eye for color, this is a big difference. It is like trying to put a darker shade of foundation on someone who should have a foundation two shades lighter.
Your main image is VERY large. On dial-up, it takes longer to load. If this was re-done with smaller pics, the load time would increase drastically. I do like the photos of you on them as they are great, much better than most I have seen put in a layout.
Although your typography that you choose is beautiful on its own, you are using several fonts. Try sticking to a maximum of 2 fonts. It will make your site more uniformed. Your section headers are very light and I suggest making them a dark gray or go with black. This will illustrate the sections much better for your visitors.
Right now, they kind of blend into the layout and are slightly hard to see, especially with my computer which is a Crystal Brite screen.
Summary: I think that your site is clean for the most partand the side navigation makes it unique. There are not many sites I have seen that do that.
You have a lot of coding errors, over 80% of them are basic mistakes. You should really consider correcting those as later on when you update, it would only get worse. Valid coding does not mean sacrificing design. Trust me, I never do and I know you can do it.
