Blondish.net Podcast: Paid To Blog- Is It For You?

Posted by Nile | Posted in Podcast | Posted on 13-04-2012 | 40

This podcast episode goes over what it takes to get paid to blog. I have also listed some sites that offer this opportunity to bloggers. I also offer some insight of choosing the right paid to blog opportunities for your site.

The biggest thing I would like people to take away from this episode on paid to blog or sponsored posts, is that you need to honest and not just think about getting the money. You have to respect your readers and the advertiser, and deliver an article that is top notch.

Podcast Presentation: WordPress for Business

Posted by Nile | Posted in Podcast | Posted on 03-04-2012 | 5

I originally presented WordPress for Business at the March 2012 Southern Illinois Social Media Club meeting. I am honor to have been invited to present.

The issue with WordPress for Business is that a lot of business owners are either confused, or have the concept of social networking and having a website backwards. I hope that I cover some basics for Businesses in understanding what WordPress can do for them, and some tips to help them on their way.

Podcast Presentation: WordPress Design And Development With The Client In Mind

Posted by Nile | Posted in Podcast | Posted on 17-03-2012 | 12

I originally presented WordPress Design and Development With The Client In Mind at WordCamp Philadelphia 2012. I wanted to touch on the fact that as a designer and developer in the WordPress community that we should be more active about making sure our clients are comfortable using their websites.

The biggest thing that makes a client change their website despite how nice it looks is usability. Covering your bases and asking your client the right questions helps reduce time and let you know how familiar they are with WordPress. Please listen in on my presentation and feel free to follow the Slideshare PowerPoint slides as it goes.

Blondish.net Podcast: Email Marketing for Blogging Newbies

Posted by Nile | Posted in Podcast | Posted on 10-03-2012 | 28

You hear all the time about people talking about how you should have a newsletter to accompany your blog. I have asked Kimberly Castleberry of Just-Ask-Kim.com to guest co-host because she has awesome insight for bloggers still new to email marketing/ newsletters.

She will answer a few questions and we will share a few things on some good places to start your own newsletter campaign. We might even have time to maybe touch on some ideas. Please note that this show was originally scheduled for about 30 minutes, and not the normal under 20 minute podcast. This is due to the fact that this is a podcast with a special guest. Also, this is to make sure questions are answered and we try to fit in information you can take with you. Please come by and ask questions through the comment system.

Please note that the quality of this is episode is due to the fact that it is carried over from the original Blog Talk Radio session.

Blondish.net Podcast: Guest Blogging 101

Posted by Nile | Posted in Podcast | Posted on 02-03-2012 | 8

Episode 3 of the Blondish.net Podcast is a little over twenty minutes and all on guest blogging basics. This Guest Blogging 101 podcast covers strictly basics as there is a lot more to it that needs to be split into a series. The reason for this is that there are a lot of things to cover for both the blog owner and also the guest writer, so I had to make a decision to start with an intro-like basic episode on the subject.

This podcast on Guest Blogging will cover:

  • What is guest blogging?
  • Some tips for the blog owner on preparing their site for guest bloggers
  • Some tips for the guest author when applying and submitting articles
  • A couple ways to find places to guest blog at

This podcast is not for blog owners running a community blog where they have many contributors. This is for the individual blogger that wants to brand themselves and retain blog purity without using guest blogging as a crutch. Some of this can be helpful to community blog owners, but it is not intended for those who are.

Please feel free to ask questions and I hope you enjoy this podcast on Guest Blogging 101.

Presentation: Avoiding Bloggers Block

Posted by Nile | Posted in Podcast | Posted on 19-02-2012 | 43

Avoiding Bloggers Block is a presentation I did at WordCamp Atlanta 2012 to address issues that bloggers of any niche may encounter when trying to fuel their block with more content.

I have embedded the presentation in a couple formats: the powerpoint and a podcast. I talk a lot about blogging and content generation, but I keep getting asked by clients – “What do I write about on my blog?”

I hope that this helps you and if you still have questions, feel free to ask.

Blondish.net Podcast: Advice For Newbie Bloggers

Posted by Nile | Posted in Podcast | Posted on 13-01-2012 | 15

I decided not to use Blog Talk Radio for podcasting as I felt the quality was not that great, and that if I needed to go over a minute or two, this was an issue.

I will note that I may be a little breathier than usual due to the fact I have been ill for most of the week. However, I think this is a good starting point. Most episodes will be 15 minutes and some special ones like interviews, presentations, or topics done with my friend Kimberly Castleberry, will be at the most, 30 minutes.

My opening and ending credits: TNT by AC/DC and Greg Mehochko put together both opening and ending.

Advice For Newbie Bloggers

This episodes goes over what new bloggers should think about when it comes to their first blog. This is more of a brief cover over:

  • Do you choose free hosting or self-hosted site for blogging?
  • What are the most important things to plan and think about when starting a blog?
