There are many out there that people harness as a way to drive traffic to their site because they have found communities interested in what they have to say. Example: LiveJournal has been an older community that has had many discussions within the fan communities, as well as other niches. Some larger forums also are great in dropping content of interest too in order to drive in fresh faces in hopes of interaction. I post via Ping.fm, and the majority of friends see the updates on FB. Some are still at MS, so I want to keep active there too. Twitter, of course, is updated for close friends. Ping covers all 3, and my status is the same for all of my friends. For blogging, I had Ping setup to cross-post to MS and FB, but I prefer just updating them with the title and a link. Why should I give other domains content? Just my opinion. Maybe if I find a job, I can get back to posting regularly and what I want.
