In a way you would be one of the people involved in making sure your company is not hacked. You can even study online to be certified for the position, which makes it extremely convenient for people who work and have a family.

EC-Council IClass has classes in Security Fundamentals, Ethical Hacking, Penetration Testing, Computer Forensics, Disaster Recovery, and Secure Programming. All of these subjects are important for those in the tech field as it is always developing.

There are free first look classes that you can check out to see if you would be interested in taking the classes or to set you on the right path, like being a Certified Ethical Hacker. The IT field is one of the highest paying jobs. It would not hurt to give this site a look and see if it is something that you would be interested in, especially if you are still looking for a solid career.
