Site focus is something that no matter if you are a blogger, business owner, or just have a site for the fun of it, you will always be tweaking your site focus and content for optimal site conversion.
If you site is confusing to your visitors, then how do you expect them to get to the articles you want them to read, or even perhaps venture upon the products you hope they might want to purchase. This graphic below is a reminder to make sure to keep your eye on your site’s focus.

Nile, great topic and I must say keeping your site free of all those stupid pop-up requiring people to join this or give emails is lacking focus.
If you want people to interact on your site and that grows continued visitors. Just keep it simple and leave all that sales junk off. Then stop doing those self-promotions after giving us no usable content.
When you have only one or two people that should tell you to get with Nile. \

simple Little Graphic, but a very important one! I love getting emails for blogs I have subscribed to when the topic is narrow because I know that the blog owner keeps to the topic and I’ll probably be interested in the latest blog post received as an email in my inbox.
When the blog focus is not narrow and you get a blog post in your email from that blog, you can easily get frustrated or bored because the blog post has nothing to do with what made you interested in that blog post in the first place.
For the most part, the narrower the focus, the better. For instance my site focuses on Video Tutorials for WordPress and for Thesis Theme for WordPress. Plus I have plenty of posts that are text and just related to WordPress. So there are three different types of posts on my blog. I could easily just have one site for WP and another site for Thesis. I still wrestle with that one.

A good one this. Site focus should never be deviated from whether you are into SEO or own a website. The purpose of hosting the site should not be lost. Content should be frequently updated while maintaining the consistency. If all these are followed seriously, your site will never lose the traffic and its loyal visitors.

Site focus is something im having a spot of bother with at the moment. My business have been until now a service company the websites done ok and brings me a fair amount of work. This year we are looking at a change of direction and starting selling direct to customers rather than visiting to do the work. The online store is under construction and its going in the place of my existing site. … now do I have the site as an online store only with no mention of my service business or should the site be a split shop / service info site…I don’t want to loose visiters looking to buy a product if they see im a service provider as well and visa versa.
