Looking forward

I got a new job as an independent contractor to web design for a gentleman in Centralia that owns several businesses. I am quite happy that my resume, my portfolio, and my interview were all up to snuff. I have been through a few interviews in the area, but this is my first since I had graduated. I am already knee deep into the projects he has and there are quite a few. Already he has liked some of my work. I will add those to my portfolio at ifreelance.com

Anyway, I treated myself to a few things, one being a set of chopsticks. The pic was done on camera phone, but they are light blue and have at the end a pic with navy, white, and gold, the theme colors of my home.

Pretty nifty, huh? And yes, I can eat with chopsticks quite well. I prefer to when I go eat sushi or to a Chinese restaurant.

By the way, elections are just around the corner. Anyone who is registered, do not forget to vote. Even one vote will count, so use it to make a difference. Truthfully, I am not going to get into who I am voting on here. I remember doing that four years ago, and people started calling each other names. I think there was over 72 blog comments on that entry. That was when I had my personal site on a subdomain over at Pixelled.com, my second domain I ever bought.

Site wise, I am contemplating on adding different templates and retiring a few for visitors to be able to download in the layout section. I am going to make a conscious effort to incorporate the sidebar.php file and more, but I also need to upgrade my script. So, in regards to that, if the site looks wonky, it is because I upgraded and I am currently working on it to fix it.

I know I mentioned using Blogrity as an awards site, but I think I will be making it a directory too and combining Pixelled Listings into it. However, I need a totally php webdirectory script that will work properly. I am tempted on breaking the book open and see what I can come up with… however, there are so many scripts out there, I might as well try. I could still modify the script if it needs it.

Hot and hectic

I got my hair dyed a bleach blonde and cut it shy of shoulder length. There are a few layers in it so it will curl and style better. I usually have all my hair cut at one length. It was a shock as it has been quite a few years since I dyed it so light. I need to get a decent pic of it.

I did upgrade the WordPress, but I now have to redo the smilies as they are not the ones I made. I hate having to upgrade as it always seems to reset where certain things are located. I think that WordPress should consider trying to leave certain areas like the smilies or put something in their script to put an option to direct to what the smilies will be so it will update, instead of altering the installing plug-in. I do not know if that sounds logical, but I just want to be able to upgrade and not have to mess with my files so much.

Angel is in Mexico with his dad. I really hope he has fun and gets to learn more about the other half of his culture. Although he understands a lot, he does not speak much at all. I am concerned as I really would like him to be fluent in Spanish. It will allow him to connect better with the other half of his family.

I have been having a lot of drama issues with my most recent romantic experience. I had a great time with the guy over two months, but my priorities were not being met. I am truly not ready for a serious relationship, just plain dating and having fun. I have done the serious relationships and I just want to not be totally attached to anyone. I also have priorities like my son, my career, and my education. I need to finish my next degree, which I enrolled in a BA in e-business with Ashworth University. When I told the guy that I was not ready for the relationship, of course he not not happy, but he also decided to act as if I was some evil bitch. I did nothing wrong, but tell him the truth. If I had told him a year down the line, it would have been detrimental, right? On top of that, his ex-wife has been stalking my website from her work! THEN, I work in the same department as the guy. He is about 7 years older than my friends and myself… has not talked to my friends much until after we got together, and not is all buddy- buddy with them when he use to sit with people around his age. He had the audacity to say that if I did not know if I was ready in the first place, that I should not have tried. THAT IS BULLSHIT! Anyone knows that if you do not try, then you will never know if you are ready. I do not need the drama and decided to distance myself from that. I feel bad enough that the one friend of mine who helped set us up might feel bad that it did not work, but I am really hoping she is not thinking that he is some victim. Like I said, I did nothing, and if he cannot accept that, and keeps treating me as if I am his psycho ex- wife, then he can go fuck off….. and grow the fuck up. I have said my peace and unfortunately to him through a letter since he was too childish to accept the truth.

I have been going out afterwards and living my life how I want now, and feel much better.

One sitely news, I will be re-vamping and opening Blogtopsite.net within a week. It was popular before until the script became outdated and it was getting spammers. I also need to install a few WordPress widgets and plug-ins. I may even have a new layout in the making. I just have so much to do.

I have even been sending my resume out to hopefully get a real career. It just has been a hectic time.

To Better Grazing Grounds….

I ventured into a site called Woman Tribune and just upon stumbling, I my eyes widened. Now, being a person who likes freebies, I saw that they had a whole list of things from pads to diapers and even hair product samples. Not only that, there are articles that are must reads. Check it out!

Another site I happened upon was Logical Harmony. The site has a variety of article and blog posts about health, beauty, and fashion. I think it is resourceful, and like the other site I introduced, has posts about freebies. Do take a look!

In sitely news, I have re-opened Shameless Plug. Go on over and plug your site. Also, do not forget to try visiting the other sites that have plugged. The site had been closed for almost 2 months due to the fact that I needed to think of a way to make it better. I also needed to update the scripts and spice it up some. I did away with one of the rules of the site which stated that businesses could not plug their site. I do however offer “In House Sponsoring” which is 100 x100 banner advertising that can even be purchased permanently (meaning as long as the site is open.) Shameless Plug has been opened since late 2004, one of my older websites, so it will be around for some time.

As for my personal site, I am going to be upgrading the WordPress script this week. Please be patient during this time. I have been carefully researching widgets and plugins more to make this site better. On a server note, I ended up switching to HostGator for my server at Host Solutions. They are a top 10 webhost alone, and have their servers located in one of the top 10 datacenter locations.

I was previously using SurpassHosting (which I refuse to link because of my ire with them) and had been lead to believe they were an excellent service. :shocked: I had several issues, most stemming to downtime because now that I know, I had a fairly shotty server. PLUS, I ended up almost wasting a grand on another server, two of the months I had to suffer some 500 Internal Server Error or some type of error or some issue with visitors from various locations around the world unable to view a site on the server. :sweat: The other was that is took one and a half months for them to finally figure that my hard drive was failing. I had other issues which disappeared in my ticket support, not even archived or anything. I was informed by a gal whom is a lawyer that could take the issue with all my evidence to a small claims court. No matter SurpassHostings claimed to not be liable, that is merely bogus legal jargen meant to deter people from thinking they can when in fact they can take it to court. I expected to have a service that was professional and took care of what I needed, especially at the price I was paying and what they offered.

On further note of webhosting, Host Solutions is getting a new face. :cheering: It is slowly being converted over and I will be introducing better services because of the much needed move to an actual professional service. :noble: Host Solutions packages will also become a bitter better, but still start at $20/ year! :applause:
