It's away from most of our family, but would pay the bills well. The cost of living isn't much higher either, so no sticker shock if we make the leap. May live in one of the outside suburbs and commute. Depending on where you live now, you might try finding a job before you move, but as a person who's done the job search thing in NYC, you'll probably have to move first.
