500 Internal Server Error?

Posted in News | Posted on Date 12-19-2008 | Comments 2 Comments

Not sure if anyone has come by the site and has seen the 500 Internal Server Error. It was the WordPress, but I am not sure if it is the 2.7 installation or one of the plug-ins. I installed the NextGen Gallery so I could put my pics of my son, myself, and my stock photos. I think I have pinpointed the issue to this particular plugin, but I cannot be certain as of yet. I have been tackling this issue the past few days. It sucked getting online to find out this issue. I may have to go back to the technicians at HostGator to try to tweak my server if this is the case.

User-Friendly Search Engine

I am always looking for new tools to do searches. It is key when making sure my site is listed as I want people to be able to find my site. I came across the Find.com Search Engine. No, it is not google, but it was surprisingly fast and simplistic, probably because it is still developing. The navigation was clean and load time fairly quick. Again, because it is still new and has over 500 articles with the promise of thousands by the end of the new year, I have not seen anything as of yet to deter me. It Read More →

Blogged?

Anyone ever heard of Blogged.com? I ran across this site during a search and my site was listed there, so I took a look. This site has a load of nifty things, including a way for visitors to sign up. As a user, you can rate and review a blog. Now, I thought when I was there that someone submitted my site, but that was not the case. It was kind of like a search engine dedicated to bloggers. I like that idea. They even rank the blog by their own editors too. I saw that I have a review, Read More →

Emoticon Set Update

It has been a long time since I have pixelled any images for download here, so I thought I might scrounge some up. I took a look at my current smilies available, and found that I had not made any extra icons for my 15 x 15 round smilies. Here is a preview of the set. There are 18 total GIF images within the package. Please visit the emoticon page to download.

Rev.iew.me, a website review community

I have been hearing about a site called Rev.iew.me, that is another review community, so I went to check it out. I ended up joining and have already posted 2 reviews. I will be posting my reviews here that I have done from there, and moving my old reviews here that I had done at Cinnamon Gum (no longer a site, hence why I did not hyperlink it.) The site is owned by Jem who knows her stuff when it comes to coding and offers quite a few free and popular scripts. In light of this, I have been going Read More →

Free webhosting?

I have seen some sites and when I saw this at Olivia’s personal blog site, I had to check out her free webhosting at So-Pink.org. She is offering domain and subdomain. She has requirements like good web skills, be over the age of 13, have good communication with her, and above all, fill out the form. I think it is a good deal and… Olivia, this is a free blog…so no need to pay me for blogging for your free service.

WordPress plug-in idea

Posted in News | Posted on Date 11-18-2008 | Comments 6 Comments

I have been a bit irked by the efiction script I use at InuYasha-Fanfiction.com. The coding is so finicky especially when incorporating a new layout. Since I have been surfing the WordPress plug-ins, and had no success in finding something that I could make a fiction site with WordPress, I thought I might suggest something in their ideas section. I am sure that it can be done using WordPress alone, but for what I want, it has to be in particular. It would be extremely daunting to go into a WordPress site and find the sidebar filled with stories. If Read More →

Applying Author Gravatar In Post Comments

wordpress-tricks
Not long ago, Gravatar (globally recognized avatar) was new and shiny, and people were implementing it into their blogs. Gravatar has since become easy to implement and users can simply put in their themes comment.php file: <?php echo get_avatar( $comment, 32 ); ?> Where 32 would designate the pixel size of the image that the blog owner wants to allow to be seen on their site. However, what about those wanting to call the Gravatar to the author of a post? That can of course be done. What you want to do is retrieve the blog author’s email address and Read More →
