Follow Frenzy with MyTweetFollowers.com?

I was talking with AlohaArleen on Twitter about MyTweetFollowers.com. At first I wanted to know what it was as she was asking around if anyone had heard of it and if it worked.

I decided to inquire and she sent a link. Being the geeky girl who is always curious and will try something in the name of proving or disproving if it works, I went to the site. You log into the site with your Twitter ID and password and you are led to a page with 2 sections of followers. First, you have to follow the VIP people who pay to be listed. Second, you have to follow 20 of the people in the regular listing. It is really something different.

The VIP (paid) members simply pay $5 a day for 10 days or $6 a day for 5 days to be listed and not rotated through the system. I am trying the system myself, but I am not sure how it will turn out. I guess like the other programs, I will have to give it a little time, like a week for a verdict.

A Little Bit About CDs

Posted by Nile | Posted in News | Posted on 16-05-2009 | 0

CD Rates which is known as Certificate of Deposit Rates are not savings bonds, nor saving accounts. They are similar, but require you to keep the money in the account over a certain amount of contracted time. The amount accrues interest, but if it is taken out, then it you would not receive the amount of money that was interest. The amount for investing in CDs are much higher than usual savings accounts. However, the interest rates are usually much better than savings accounts from even credit unions.

This is something that my ex and I have discussed about getting with the money we have put together in his savings account. It would allow Angel to have money when he is older and not have to worry.

Twitter Twisted?

Posted by Nile | Posted in News | Posted on 13-05-2009 | 3

After the recent “fix” by Twitter to make things go more smoothly, Twitter changed some of their stuff back. They wanted to change it to allow members to only see the replies from followers, but not from the regular. At first I thought this meant that twitter would eliminate the general site timeline. It was not.

As MG Siegler of TechCrunch describes it

“So basically, you can see when someone is replying to someone else but only when they’re not really replying to them.”

Of course, as I mentioned already, Twitter took a bit of time again this week to change some of the settings back, so it is not so bad. I am sure Twitter is trying to do things in the best interest, but I have to say that if the focus of this simple one function site gets any more difficult, it may not be very appealing anymore. Already I have noticed glitches (via my “suspension” which was deemed a cache problem when I refreshed my computer over and over) and that the site seems a little more loaded with the features added. Of course, with any script, the more tables and code you add to make more functions, the more the load.

My hope is that Twitter tries to not do too much more. The site is blossoming ‘as is’ already and if they wanted to put some text ads, I am sure no one would complain as long as they were on the sidebar of the page.

I should not complain, but I actually enjoy meeting the new people that are on my stream. Sometimes through my followerers, I find others who I can connect with too.

What do you think about this?

My Twitter Account Was Suspended?

Posted by Nile | Posted in News | Posted on 11-05-2009 | 4

After I got back from watching the movies with my boyfriend, late Saturday evening, I was going to twitter and talk about the movies. Lo and behold, a blaring, account suspension was posted. I was shocked and confused why this was up. I do not use Twitter any differently than I did months ago when I was very active.

The reasons they list for people they flag and suspend are those that spam, impersonate others, mass creating user accounts, and more. However, as I recall, I have done nothing new in the past couple days since being able to finally access my computer from home. I use to post almost all day and evening. I am myself, so it is not an impersonation, and I re-tweet informative links, giving credit to the original person who posted the information.

I am quite confused. Has anyone had any issues like this with Twitter. It kind of sucks since I have been an avid promoter of Twitter and have written many encouraging blog posts about the site.

Snark Forums

Snark Forums For those tired of not finding an active enough forum or want to try another one, I recommend Snark Forums. There are a variety of topics that the group contains and plenty of people to meet.

Some of the members there are extremely helpful and very savvy when it comes to being a code ninja, especially when designing your website. They will tell you how it is when it comes to design and I will have to say that I have learned a little by advice and reviews from some of the members at Snark Forums, previous to being a member at the community.

Anyway, since I recently joined the group, I have been enjoying it there and have felt quite welcomed. I recommend trying Snark Forums.

Website Review for Velociteen

I have completed the website review of Velociteen. The site has a great focus, but the design really needs some work.

If you have a website that you want reviewed, you can request to have your site reviewed by me.

Webhosting Choice: Webhost Review Site

Posted by Nile | Posted in News | Posted on 07-05-2009 | 3

I always encourage people to visit sites that offer more information to consumers looking for web hosting. Why? Well, these sites are important in allowing people shopping for a new webhost a single place to check out reviews submitted by their peers. There are webhosts that open and close every day based on your input.

I cannot count the times I have had bad service since I started purchasing webhosting in 2003. Since then I became my own webhost.

It is not easy, but these web hosting review sites really do help. Consumers want to trust the service they buy. If a host is not genuine, or has a lot of technical problems, these review sites will reflect that in what the clients say about a company.

I recommend checking it out. If you are hosting with anyone, you should submit a review for them today at Webhosting Choice.

BuddyPress Is Finally 1.0

Posted by Nile | Posted in News | Posted on 01-05-2009 | 2

With social media being big, WordPress MU, which allows users to install mutiple WordPress and connect with other bloggers has finally developed even more into Buddypress. Months ago, I plugged BuddyPress as I thought it was great. It is a great alternative for those tired of Facebook and MySpace or Ning, but with those who had a big love for using WordPress.

I am a little bit behind from the announcement of this over at the BuddyPress blog, but I remember that there were people really interested in it. Personally, I think this takes WordPress over the top and heads above most blog scripts (or for some of you, blog platform.)

I think this is great, especially for those people who were into doing forums. Not only can you do forums, but basically just about anything from blogging. It makes socializing a heck of a lot easier. With people who offer subdomain hosting, Buddypress might prove to be a better alternative. BuddyPress contains some great features like extended profiles, friends section, private messaging, groups, streams (kind of like a Facebook/ Twitter feature), forums, stats so you can track your blog, and more.
