So, I got a strange question about Instagram following, and well, what the hey… I’ll answer it in an Ask Nile series post. The question was, “How many Instagram accounts can I follow in an hour?”
And just for those who just read post titles and pop off, please read before pitching in your end. While I’m answering this question, I’m not necessarily supporting this type of method for growing your Instagram account.
How many Instagram Accounts can you follow in an Hour
Honestly, you shouldn’t be thinking of this. Mass following can get your account frozen for a day or even more. To Instagram, it’s seen as not natural for account growth. Instagram only allows you to follow a max of 7500 people. That’s not 7500 per hour or day, but of all time. If you participate in Instagram follow loops, you’ll hit the limit quickly. (Note: Joining Instagram follow loops isn’t necessarily frowned on, but it’s not a sustainable method. I’ll have to talk about that in another post in the near future.)
When it comes to following per hour, some people throw out numbers like 10 or 60. The 60 came from the same 60 actions per hour, which are for follows and unfollows with Instagram. This all depends on how fast you’re following people, and your account’s history and if it’s in good graces with Instagram.
If you’re going gung ho and following fast, you might get a Instagram block after 8-10 follows. However, if you spare 5-10 seconds between each follow, you can comfortably follow up to 50 people within an hour without encountering a block.
How did I find this out? Well, I tried this out with a throwaway Instagram account that I like to do for experimenting, especially for the purpose of answering questions like this. I Googled this same question, and kept seeing all sorts of numbers, so I had to try it out for myself.
